Then, a shadow fell over Gao Peng’s head as a giant dragon claw came down from above. When the claw touched his head, it felt as though his scalp was being thoroughly patted by an enormous chunk of metal.

After the pat, Gao Peng’s scalp hurt a little, and his body felt like it was just too stunned to move.

Was I... was I just patted on the head by a dragon?

By the time Gao Peng turned around to look, the White Dragon had already retracted its claw and silently slipped back into the lake, leaving behind only a few ripples on the lake’s surface.

After returning to the villa, Gao Peng told his grandpa all the possible evolutionary paths and the necessary materials for the White Dragon, and his grandpa recorded all of the names of the materials. Although some of the names were totally foreign to him, he still took a small notebook from his pocket and wrote down all of them.

“Oh, that’s right. The materials that you wanted me to help you look for have been mostly found. See if you can put them to use. But I must say, if you want to raise your familiars, you can look for the advanced level Monster Breeders in the company. We have two of them in the company’s experimental department. Consulting with them should be better than experimenting on your own,” said Grandpa.

Gao Peng did not argue back about how much better he was than those two advanced level Monster Breeders. It wasn’t like he had any proof, anyway. It was best to wait until the results come back from the lab. That would be more effective than mere words.

Gao Peng took the list that his grandpa passed to him and checked the materials on the list. Practically all of the materials that could be purchased with money were there. The remaining materials were so rare that either there was hardly any market for them or money alone couldn’t buy them.

This was the first time Gao Peng realized that money could not get one everything. Some things were just so valuable that they could not be bought, not even with monster core crystals. It was simply because no one was selling them, or because they did not even exist on the market.

But either way, the materials needed to raise Silly to perfect grade were all gathered. This meant that Silly had a chance to break through to Commander tier.

Gao Peng was determined. Silly was now level 20, and its personal space was already as large as a refrigerator. If it managed to promote to Commander tier, the personal space would definitely balloon in size. At that point, it would really be like a portable mini-warehouse.

The procedure to raise Silly’s grade was not complicated. Gao Peng borrowed one of the company labs used by some other personnel and busied himself for half a day in order to prepare the required materials.

Gao Peng looked at the reddish-brown experimental serum in his hands. The lights in the lab shone through it, scattering into clear, brilliant colors. Gao Peng diluted the solution with water, then let Silly fly in.

The last time, the green serum had caused Silly to turn into its current jade-green. This time, this red serum should allow Silly to change its color at will, Gao Peng had hoped.

The serum was poured into an experimental container. The reddish-brown color gradually spread, and the faint scent of green apples wafted out, leaving a nice aroma in the air.

Without needing any reminders from Gao Peng, Silly smelled the fruit fragrance and its eyes immediately lit up. It hurriedly jumped in, drinking up the liquid in big gulps.

Its jade-green skin was slowly covered in a layer of red, looking as though it was being dyed with wine.

Gao Peng was delighted. His method had indeed worked.

After half an hour, the water in the container slowly became clear again. Silly slowly drifted out of the container, and Gao Peng’s expression darkened. The color had turned to a dark green!

But dark green was still much better than jade green.

At least in poor light conditions, it would just look like some dark color.

[Monster Name]: Dimensional Jellyfish

[Monster Weakness]: 1. Electric-type 2. Ice-type 3. Afraid of fish

After an elevation in grade, Silly quietly floated in the air. It hovered there for a moment, stunned. Then it leisurely flew onto Gao Peng’s head and fished out some juice to drink as it always did.

After that, Gao Peng prepared the materials and raised Da Zi and Stripey’s grade to perfect as well. Their grades had dropped by one when they reached the Commander tier, and now they had regained their perfect grade.

All that was left were the materials for promotion to epic grade. The materials were rare, and some of the key ingredients still hadn’t been obtained, but at least he had a start on gathering them.

...

After the cataclysm, the African continent had become more primitive and rough. It was filled with the scent of wilderness, and human cities were rare. The cities that existed were congregated on flatlands.

One by one, they formed gigantic flatland style megacities, filled with unique elements from all parts of Africa. The walls of the buildings were covered with colorful, patterned graffiti.

The major city in the south of Africa was Lusaka. It was the world’s largest exporter of copper, and it was thus also known as the Copper Capital.

There was a large number of copper mines close to Lusaka, so many of the city’s buildings made out of copper, and they glimmered brightly under the sunlight.

Five hundred miles outside of Lusaka Base City was a patch of open plains. These were the plains of Lusaka’s northern border, and they were occupied by tribes of White-Capped Honey Badgers. Even lions and tigers would not carelessly enter these open plains, because this was a tribe of animals that fought like berserkers.

In the middle of the open plain, a rift suddenly split open from top to bottom, like a vertical slash.

The rift was only as thick as a strand of hair, but from it came clouds of thick black fog that did not dissipate. The black fog grew heavier and heavier, spreading madly outwards.

In Lusaka Base City, a certain building’s red warning light suddenly lit up. The building was a small, low-lying hut, built to the south of the city center.

“Quickly, go see what’s going on!”

“Which area is it now?”

The hut was in an uproar.

“High energy spatial reaction! The White-Bellied Space Worm became agitated, and there’s a high energy spatial reaction nearby! It’s most likely a spatial rift.”

This was said by a soldier in a black, skin-tight combat suit, who had quickly come upstairs, bursting hurriedly into the office.

“Akil.” The burly commander in military uniform spoke to the young black man sitting in the corner of the office.

The young black man raised his head, set aside the game console he was holding, and lazily got to his feet. “Akil, standing by and ready!”

The young man was a full 1.9 meters tall standing upright, his burly figure tightening the seams of his uniform.

“Take a White-Bellied Space Worm and check out the target location... And be careful.”

“Yes, sir.” Akil smiled, revealing a row of shiny white teeth.

...

“Oh, d*mn.” Up in the air, atop a Red-Spotted Falcon, Akil looked down with displeasure at the plains beneath him.

The earth was covered in pitch black fog, as though the air itself had been purposely painted over, completely colored by black paint. Within the black fog, nothing could be seen, and it was impossible to see out of it as well.

Akil had his familiar lower the altitude of their flight. The black fog seemed to have a life of its own, and it gathered thickly on the ground, not thinning at all. Instead, it was slowly spreading outwards.

He was not interested in coming into contact with the black fog to see if it was poisonous or anything. That was a job for the researchers.

Suddenly, some sort of sound began to come from within the black fog.

Akil’s expression changed. He had the falcon fly higher, and he turned in panic to look at the black fog beneath him. The noise was getting closer and closer, and it sounded like horse hooves on the grassland.
