Chapter 81 For Hire
"What do you want then?" Jake raised his eyebrows.
"I am afraid that this is something that we can only talk about in private. Can we have the room for ourselves?" the old man asked.
Jake looked around. Everyone looked at their chat boxes, trying to get an answer from their higher ups. These were not people who had any authority.
They just came here to throw their weight around. No one here could actually intimate him. Jake chuckled as he nodded.
"I am afraid that I cannot just tell them to leave." Jake said.
"Alright. But our offer will also not stand on the table for long. We also wish to have a quick decision." he said.
"Fine. Myriad Arrows, please take care of these gentlemen. I will be inside with this gentleman from Sirius here." Jake smiled.
"Inside? What inside?" Myriad Arrows looked around. He spent a lot of his time here and he knew that there was no other room here. Sure, this floor looked small compared to the other two, but it was just his office.
So he never cared about it. But now, there was apparently another whole room in this place?
"Haha." Jake chuckled as he got up and nodded toward the old man and walked a few steps to the edge of the wall. He then tapped the wall.
Click!
Suddenly, the wall popped out and slid to the side, revealing a surprisingly spacious room inside with a desk and a few chairs inside.
"You had another office here all this time and you didn\'t tell me?" veins started bulging out of Myriad Arrows\' face. He had to stand here next to Jake all these days like an attendant because there was no other desk for him.
He, the guild coleader, had to act like an assistant. And there was an office all this time?
"You are more of a fighting person. Giving you a desk, forcing you into admin work, that is just a waste of your potential. Anyways, if any of these gentlemen have any questions, answer them to your best capability and if they want to sign on the contract, message me." Jake said as he and the old man entered the room.
The door slid close after them, and it was like there was no room anymore. The wall closed seamlessly.
But they knew. They knew that there was a door and a room behind them.
"I should keep that in mind. If he is hiding in there for some mad reason, he can just sneak up on me when I am doing something." Myriad Arrows kept in mind as he looked at the representatives in front of them, expecting a barrage of questions.
But they were all silent. All of them looking at their chat boxes with expecting looks.
"Looks like he left me here for a reason. He knew that they weren\'t going to do anything." Myriad Arrows shook his head and sighed.
Inside the room,
"So then, what is the condition that you wanted to discuss in secret?" Jake asked, looking at the old man.
They were both seated, locking eyes.
"Our guild has recently come across information that you are in possession of the largest stock of rare and common grade items among any other player. By a mile." the old man started.
"I did hear that you are also getting new stock in consistently. Every single day, the store is being restocked. And there have been sightings which said that every single one of the guild member of Bright Horizon was decked in blue equipment. Rare Grade equipment. For three hundred people. It costs thirty silvers to deck a single person in Rare Grade equipment. And to do it for so many people, you need a source."
"You want to know where I got so much equipment for cheap?" Jake asked.
"This is some valuable information that you are asking me. It is worth so much in the long run. Information like this isn\'t just handed to a person who just became an ally. Even Venur had to pay for the information that they got from me. And it wasn\'t cheap." he said.
"We are willing to match your request for this, as well as become allies." the old man nodded without hesitation.
"I wonder. Why is someone like you coming to a corner of Gaia? Someone with this much authority in Sirius. I know that the Heavenly Wolf Guild is certainly ambitious. Why would they send one of their biggest elders to a small guild like this? Could it be? You have ambitions similar to mine?" Jake smiled.
"We are willing to pay for the information. How much do you want for it?" the old man asked.
"Five Thousand Gold. No compromise. I am losing on this deal, not winning." Jake said.
"Done." he took out a card from his inventory and placed it on the desk.
Jake\'s mouth curled up.
"You already knew what my asking price was, didn\'t you? I guess you had a talk with Venur before this?" he asked.
"Unlike those outside, I do not like coming here without knowing my opposition. Although I, unfortunately, do not know much about you in the real world, I did find all that I could." he nodded his head.
"Well then. The way to get equipment for cheap, pretty easy. You just need to make it yourself. Surely, you know that being a blacksmith is possible for players right?"
"Don\'t go back on your words. It will take a month before the blacksmiths can get to the level where they make equipment profitable. Until then, you have a source. Sirius wants in." the old man cut him short.
"There are more blacksmiths than just players. There are still NPCs. You do not understand yet, but they are also up for grabs." Jake said.
